GROPIUS

Inspired in part by Walter Gropius' 1919 Manifesto of the Staatliches Bauhaus, "Gropius" an exploration of material and form, a typical 1970's household kitchen chair is re-modeled and reconstructed using thermoplastic molds pressed by hand around the form. The form is 'felt' out in negative space, and the object itself removed, leaving a residual hollow organic form.
